About the popup dialog box
Most products use a new pop-up window to display dialog box for running certain features, such as window dialog for inserting tables, inserting links, selecting color, etc. This model of implementation will cause several server round-trips and the user may experience longer loading time. Content Editor has its unique feature, that we call 'one page dialog box'. It means that when you open a dialog box , it is still displayed in the current window. No new window is opened. This way, the document editing operation can be done faster since we save time from requesting another opened window to the server. Our 'one page dialog box' is implemented during some operations such as : Table Creation and Modification, Hyperlink Insertion, many color pickers (foreground color, background color, etc), style selection, paragraph selection, font selection, font size selection, insert symbol and page setup/properties feature.
Advanced Table Insertion/Editing and Cell formatting
Besides inserting tables, Content Editor is also capable of updating / editing existing tables and its corresponding cells. Content Editor provides users all the functionality of easily maintaining tables such as :
- background / cell color
- colspan, rowspan
- external stylesheet
- alignment and much more.
By using external stylesheet applied to the editor, you can also define the default table/cell style. Show/hide table border function is also provided, so that you can view the guidelines when the tables have a zero border.
Advanced Image Insertion/Editing
Besides inserting images, Content Editor is also able to update / edit the inserted image properties. Not many similar products offer this distinctive feature. The image properties are also quite complete. It includes border, width, height, alt, align, vspace, and hspace. With some methods provided in Content Editor, developers can build their own Image Gallery application and integrate it with the Content Editor.
In the package, we include a sample of Image Gallery application that provides users with the ability to upload, view, delete unwanted images and also add meaningful text for the ALT tags which complies with W3C, Accessibility requirements. Developers can add their own code to restrict what is being uploaded and the size of the files if they wish (Image Library source code provided).
Advanced Hyperlink
We do not use the standard create link feature from windows. Instead, our insert link feature provides the flexibility to set a target and an anchor name when inserting links. Besides inserting hyperlinks, Content Editor is also capable of updating existing hyperlinks. When you place your cursor on the hyperlink, click the insert/edit hyperlink icon, then the insert/edit hyperlink dialog box will open and show the properties of the hyperlink, including hyperlink type, url, target & anchor name which you can modify easily !
If you need to create "Insert Internal Link" feature and you have your own custom link lookup page, our Content Editor is also capable to accomodate this with just a simple function.

Font, Style and Paragraph Preview
Our font selection is equipped with a font view feature whereas other products usually only use a dropdown list. This feature is also applied to paragraph selection, font-size selection and style selection.

Enable/Disable Toolbar Functions
You can programatically enable/disable any toolbar function.
Insert Internal Asset (Document, Video, Audio, Flash animation, etc) in the form of object or standard links
You can insert links to internal asset/files (such as doc, pdf, zip, etc) or multimedia objects (such as Flash/SWF, AVI, WAV, WMV files, etc). Insert Custom HTML is also available for your personal custom prepared html content (eg. company signature, address, image link, etc). With the methods provided in Content Editor, developers can build their own Asset/File Browser application and easily integrate it within Content Editor.
Flexible location for editing and publishing process
By setting just 2 properties, you can implement a different location for the editing and publishing process. You'll have the flexibility to place the editor anywhere and to publish the results anywhere (in the same domain). You can also specify your own location of images, files and multimedia libraries according to your needs.
Content Editor also supports Relative Path.
Multiple Instance, Fast loading
You can have multiple instances of the editor in one web page. As some internal functions of Content Editor are shared, it makes loading more than one editor on a page faster.
Styesheet enabled Page Properties
Content Editor supports the ability to define page properties using stylesheets (by an external stylesheet/css file or by dynamically changing them at runtime using the "Page Properties" dialog box). Using an external stylesheet will give you unlimited flexibility in defining the default style of the document.
